Lenore Thomas taught in the Department of Studio Arts for nearly two decades, serving as Chair from 2021 to 2024 and mentoring dozens of students and colleagues.
She was a mixed-media artist whose prints and paintings explored abstract forms that layer upon each other to create imagery suggestive of landscape. Her work has been presented in group and solo exhibitions at venues such as Markel Fine Arts in New York City, Fresh Paint in Culver City, California, The National Academy in New York City, and Penang State Art Gallery in Penang, Malaysia. She was represented by Cumberland Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee, and was a resident fellow at the Vermont Studio Center, Anchor Graphics in Chicago, and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha.
